  1. What was the inspiration for the work in the recent "Super Fun" show?
    I'm really focused on trying to take apart existing visual languages and put them back together at the moment. The show was based on that idea.
  2. Describe your overall artistic philosophy in a single sentence.
    Be courageous.
  3. What other art has you fired up right now?
    The dilapidated, painted and layered billboards, walls and signs I see
    everywhere in NYC.
  4. Pivotal moment in your development as an artist?
    Getting accepted to CalArts and learning to unlearn.
  5. Artistic goals yet to be achieved?
    I think there are too many to list and they change everyday. How about
    starring in a Julian Schnabel film?
  6. Best thing about being an artist?
    I don't have to wear a tie everyday.
  7. Worst thing about being an artist?
    I never get to wear a tie.
  8. "Rock star" artistic moment?
    Recording music at Capitol Records studios in Los Angeles.
  9. Most influential person on your career as an artist?
    Mark Bradford
  10. Number one thing you hope people take away from experiencing the art in Super Fun and beyond?
    I hope I've helped them SEE as opposed to just looking.

LIFE

  1. Who would you most want to trade lives with for a day, and why?
    I'd like to be a starting quarterback on Super Bowl Sunday. I love
    throwing a football.
  2. What books are you reading now?
    Logic Express recording software owners manual.
  3. What music is playing in your vehicle right now?
    Mostly jazz.
  4. Besides art, what are your greatest passion(s)?
    My family.
  5. Something everyone needs to know about you?
    That I love guitars.
  6. What you'd be doing if you couldn't do art:
    Unimaginable.

    Surf "n" Turf, filet mignon and lobster tail.

    Exfoliating cream. (brand unspecified)

    Benzo.
