  1. What was the inspiration for the work in the "Birds n' Booze" show?

    2. Mueller: A mix of past and present influences in my life. As a new resident to San Diego I'm greatly influenced by the incredible relationship between people and nature- particularly the ocean. I love paintings from the art nouveau period and try to reference them in my work while using a brighter color palette and more contemporary subject matter.

  2. Describe your overall artistic philosophy in a single sentence.

    3. Mueller: "Part of the art of being me, is doing what comes naturally"

  3. What other art has you fired up right now?

    4. Mueller: This section could be 2 pages long but today= Shepard Fairey, Zak Smith & Sebastian Kruger. Always = Gustav Klimt & Will Bradley

  4. Pivotal moment in your development as an artist?

    5. Mueller: An independent study I did at RISD, that was later developed into a class offered in the illustration department.

  5. Artistic goals yet to be achieved?

    6. Mueller: A solo show in the MOMA

  6. Best thing about being an artist?

    7. Mueller: You can get away with anything and call it "art"

  7. Worst thing about being an artist?

    8. Mueller: No "benefits package"

  8. "Look Ma, I'm Famous!" artistic moment?

    9. Mueller: When I won a safety calendar competition in 5th grade. I illustrated the month of December & drew a picture of a kid getting electrocuted by Christmas lights, with the safety message "Let your parents decorate the house."

  9. Most influential person on your career as an artist?

    10. Mueller: Mary Jane Begin, a professional illustrator & teacher I had at RISD

  10. Number one thing you hope people take away from experiencing the art in this show and beyond?

    11. Mueller: A smile

  1. Who would you most want to trade lives with for a day, and why?

    2. Mueller: A bird, so I could fly.

    3. Mueller: I have a short attention span so I read magazines and short stories.

    4. Mueller: Goldfish

    5. Mueller: Traveling the world & skiing
