Michele Guieu’s work focuses on large-scale installations constructed from paintings and drawings,

with secondary elements including murals, video, photography, furniture, decals, and found objects. Her imagery is both abstract and concrete: it draws on photographic images collected from mass media and her personal life, but is then abstracted through a high-contrast process that derives from her graphic design background. Scale is a crucial component in her installations, as it serves to reduce the constituent paintings and drawings to pure graphical-sculptural units in a bigger whole.

Anyways I’m all cryin and s**t because I loved my mini bike and I was lost as…but eventually I found a house and they called my folks, then we went out on four wheelers with some extra petrol and rescued my little Honda. Long story short it was a crappy day and I got grounded to top it off because I wasn’t allowed to go anywhere near as far away as the stripper cuts I was riding at.
Carini and Kerr like to create pictures that can be difficult to decipher.

The IDEA: to hold a viewer’s interest and curiosity a bit longer than more straightforward offerings;

The INTENT: to make someone actually think about the work, it’s meaning, and how they feel about it, and maybe feel a sense of wonder, versus quickly recognizing a scene or easily recognizable symbols and quickly moving on.

The HOPE: allowing the viewer to more actively participate in the meaning derived form the work.

The artists seek to prompt an experience through association, symbol, and memory versus depicting a quick, clear and easy to decipher meaning, using abstracted forms and symbols, contrasting geometric and organic forms.
